Employment means occupation,to be engaged in doing something productive is to be employed.The lack of employment is known as unemployment.Unemployment is a world wide problem.Unemployment is rapidly growing in the Asian countries.Advanced countries like USA,UK,suffer from this problem also now.It is considered to be a social evil and this may lead to or cause many other problems like starvation which in turn leads to death.When many people are unemployed,it decreases the national income of the country.The various factors which lead to unemployment are rapid changes in education,technology,recession,inflation,disability of individuals,changes in the pattern of climatic conditions,willingness to work,employee values,discriminating factors in the place of work like discrimination on the basis of caste,colour,race,sex.People are losing their jobs rapidly even though people are educated due to the present recession and are not secure of their jobs.The government has to give unemployment insurance benefits to the claimants.Hence the government will lose from both sides in terms of unemployment benefits and loss of tax revenue.
